Do all t-tops require stabilization?
Fishmaster T-Tops are designed for heavy-duty use in waters of all kinds, but adding extra stability is never a bad idea. Included with every Fishmaster T-Top is a pair of standoffs that anchor your t-top to your center console, strengthening the design and ensuring the structure stays well-balanced. If you plan to regularly use your t-top in rougher waters or outfit it with heavy accessories (in excess of 100 lbs.) we’d recommend adding a vertical brace standoff set or t-top stabilizer bar.
Should I choose standoffs or a stabilizer bar?
In most applications we would recommend using a set of regular standoffs or vertical brace standoffs. As long as there is a clear space on your console for mounting, these products will be most effective in bracing your t-top to the center console. Our t-top stabilizer bar, on the other hand, is designed specifically for our Original T-Top and will not fit the Pro Series. Instead of bracing the t-top against the console, this stabilizer bar braces the Original T-Top’s legs together, providing more rigidity in rough waters.
Do Fishmaster stability products work with other t-top brands?
Although originally designed for Fishmaster T-Tops, some of our stability products are compatible with other t-top brands. If you’re hoping to add more stability to a competitive t-top brand, we’d recommend the t-top standoff pack (available to fit 1.9-in. and 2.25-in. diameter tubing) which includes multiple spacers and allows you to achieve a custom fit for your boat.
Are there products available for personal stability on the boat’s deck?
To keep yourself and your passengers stable while moving around the boat, we recommend installing a deck-mounted grab bar. This bar can be mounted anywhere you need added stability and fastens down to your boat’s deck with stainless steel hardware. When it’s not needed, the bar can be easily removed and stashed out of the way.
